Building a Stable Life

Today’s escapades at the Early Learning Centre was building a castle using ALL the blocks! This was not an easy task!

We started strong but the block placement by my fellow workers was not ideal. The tower was growing higher, but not stable. We needed some crisscrossing like they do with bricks. Teaching my apprentices how to place the blocks was a full-time job, and then we’d get some ‘casuals’ who swung by trying to be helpful, but without my consultation, we had a few walls collapsing.

Undaunted we pressed on, we were nearing completion of our castle as just about all the blocks were used. However, we had an inbound ‘missile’ aka child, swooping in and knocking it down. We needed to start again. Undeterred I gave the children a good gee-up and we kept going until we finished! We were so proud of our building, the next thing to do was knock it down ourselves.

As our creators spent all the time building it, I though it was only fair they get to knock it over. We then packed up and looked for our next adventure.

I learned some valuable life lessons today:

1. Build using a firm foundation. Start with values like honesty, integrity and loyalty.

2. There are always going to be people or circumstances that will try and beat you down. Take heart, ignore them and keep building your life.

3. Surround yourself by people who will encourage you, remember though even a super positive person will get down once in a while and need some encouragement!

Once we created our masterpiece we had ownership of it. I thought about God at this point, and realised that HE also created us, so He could do what He likes with us.

It just so happens that He is good ALL the time, and whatever happens to us, if we honour Him, He will lift us up. Sometimes life might not feel so good as we get knocked down, but know that if you call on God, He will build you up again!

Question for your team: What have you built? Have you finished, if not, what’s stopping you? Be blessed

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and yet it did not fall, for its foundation had been built on the rock. Matthew 7: 24-26
