Connections

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11

Here we are at the beginning of another year. I hope this year finds you with peace in your home, purpose in your work and hope for your soul.

During the holidays hubby and I have stumbled across finding an extra purpose for our life and while it’s so simple, it gives us so much joy!

It started when friends we knew from a long time ago had reconnected with us. They were a little lost, somewhat broken (aren’t we all 😊), and wanted to find somewhere to belong. We invited them to our church which they enjoyed, but they needed a space to find deeper connections with more people than just us.

So, I invited them along with 4 other couples to our place for a BBQ in an attempt for people to get to know our friends. The threatening clouds thankfully held back from dampening the outdoor event. At one point I looked around at the guests, and my heart skipped a beat seeing people deep in conversation. It turned out, not only did our friends enjoy this time, so did the others who were also wanting to find a place of belonging. Now every month or so there will be an open invitation for people to come and mingle get to know each other at a deeper level.

And I love this. I love that the past year hubby and I have spent many weekends working in the garden to make a humble sanctuary for people to connect with each other, with an ultimate goal of connecting with God. After all, in the garden of Eden is where man’s first communion with God happened, let’s hope it’s not the last.

Question: What do you really enjoy doing? Can you bring others along your passion with you?

Be Blessed. Yvette Wynne
