Our Christian DNA

Integricare is a Christian not-for-profit organisation established in 1882 and registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.

Our purpose for existence is:

To enable children, families and communities to experience the love of Jesus.

Our Christian identity is defined by our beliefs and the practical outworking of these beliefs in our day-to-day operation, attitudes and actions.

Statement of beliefs

The basis of our identity is consistent with the mission of Jesus Christ and as such we believe that:

  • The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God and is our authority in all matters of faith and behaviour.
  • There is a unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  • There is a universal sinfulness and guilt of men and women since the fall, making each of us subject to God’s judgement.
  • Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
  • Through the death of Jesus on the cross and His dying in our place, He has paid the price of our sin and by repentance and faith we can have reconciliation with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead provides hope for all believers.
  • There is an indwelling and ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in each believer.
  • There will be a future personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christian identity

Our purpose and beliefs define how we operate as a Christ-centred organisation. It reflects our vision, mission and core values and aims to give Integricare personnel clarification of our purposes and strategic direction. This also directs the internal culture we are seeking to build and how we engage with external stakeholders. Christian identity is actively demonstrated within Integricare through the following:

1. Governance and leadership

Each Director on Integricare’s Board, the CEO and each of those on Integricare’s senior leadership team (as defined by Integricare) are required to declare that they agree with this Statement of Christian Identity which incorporates the Statement of Beliefs.

2. Strategic direction

Integricare’s strategic direction determines how we express our Christian identity and how this is communicated in terms of education programs, external communications and internal culture. All personnel are expected to work within Christian principles expressed through the organisation’s strategic statements, as seen above.

3. Chaplaincy and pastoral care

Integricare is committed to providing chaplaincy services to personnel and families. As a result, we employ a Chaplain for the purposes of counselling, pastoral care and spiritual instruction. All personnel, particularly management and senior leadership, are expected to support the work of the Chaplain.

4. Partnerships

When working with key partners, Integricare’s Christian identity is strengthened when there is an alignment of purpose. Whilst we aim to maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies and local councils, our mission is enhanced when we form meaningful strategic alliances with Christian denominations, local churches, like-minded para-church organisations and suppliers of goods and services who also express a Christian commitment. All personnel are expected to support and work cooperatively with these partners.
